We took some time out one day and drove around Lincolnshire. I'd not really seen much of it, except the parts near Spalding where Gwen lives and what we pass through on the journey to and from.
One of the first towns we drove through was Sleaford, a nice enough little town, but nothing to get excited about until I saw this thing plunked down in the middle of the road. It looked like the top of a church steeple, and from a distance that's what I thought it was... until we got closer and it didn't get any higher. I was expecting it then to be a memorial to a bishop or other church official, but it was dedicated to some man, with no titles attached that I could see... except there was a side street with his name. Who knows?
Maybe they just had a "spare" steeple hanging around?
There is a part of Lincolnshire to the north called the "wolds". The wolds are a range of chalk hills, and the Lincolnshire wolds are an extension of the Yorkshire wolds. Being use to the flat area where Gwen lives I was blown away with the wolds, beautiful undulating hills with fields and woods and pastures. Below are several of the views that captured my attention
