Luxmore's Garden

The heart of Luxmore's is secluded, surrounded by tall trees and shrubs. It gives no indication of the surprises that await beyond its bounds. From here you can see the Chapel towers above the trees.

This fellow sits on the east side of the lawn, back inside the border. I haven't a clue who he is but, from his location overlooking the pool and plinth, I suspect that it may be Luxmore, the former housemaster responsible for the gardens. It could just as easily be some famous personage, but I doubt it. Most of the statues/busts dotted around the college are of people who have been associated with the college in some way.
Is This a Bust of Luxmore's Creator?
There is a beautiful arbor that is covered in climbing roses. Unfortunately the gardeners don't seem to be concerned with deadheading the old blossoms... you need to cut them off just above the first group of five leaves... to keep them blooming. The result is that all the rose bushes in Luxmores are looking a bit shabby just now. In the spring, though, the arbor is gorgeous, the roses beginning to bloom and all the nearby ornamental trees in flower... the effect is just stunning.
