This week found us back at Royal Berks. I thought about having a go, but decided I would rather just chill and take photos. Across the lake I spotted a Grey Heron and zoomed in to the max and snapped off a shot. It was only later when I viewed the image on the PC that I discovered the heron had a fish. Herons and Cormorants are the bane of fishery owners/managers.

The Mandarins were still there and this time I saw Mom and her ducklings.

The Mandarin ducklings are about as cute as you can imagine.

Steve was fishing while I was playing bird photographer and landed a lovely Rudd....

A fair size Bream (Snottie) was next up...

Steve reeled in one of the tiniest fish I'd ever seen, again we didn't know what it was... though Steve made a guess that it was a Gudgeon... and he was right...

What came up next on the line amazed us both with it's beauty. It was like a living bar of gold, a wonderful Golden Rudd...

While I pottered around and Steve fished this lady Mallard kept us company

All birds who live in or around fisheries have sussed out the fact that there is always free food of some form or other to be had. I would soon learn about the cheeky boldness of Robins and Wagtails.
Steve had a terrific day, catching a wide variety of fish, but no carp... and I found subjects to photograph and enjoyed the atmosphere.
